Charles Joseph Berger

(1961-2000)

Charlie died of a prescription morphine overdose. He was a heroin addict. No one really knows how many times he actually died and was brought back. He struck me as a cat with nine lives. Sadly, Charlie's amazing luck finally ran out. He was my husband. Though we were separated for quite some time before his death, I never stopped loving him. I never will. He was a genius, a poet, a talented musician, a father, a comedian, and a prophet. He was very loving and affectionate (especially with his son) and fiercely loyal to those of us  who were lucky enough to have been truly loved by him. He had amazing physical strength, with the most powerful, protective arms which made you feel safe. He had the most beautiful dark ringlets I have ever seen and a profile which any Roman god would envy. Heroin stole many of these wonderful qualities away from him, yet this is how he remains in my dreams of him. I love you Charlie. Now and forever.
