Joe Stephens, Jr.

(1969 - 1996)

Joe was a
warm, sensitive person who never did anything to hurt a living soul and
yet, noone called 911 to help him. Half an hour before he went down,
another young man dropped. Joe dialed 911 and performed CPR on him
until the paramedics arrived and he was revived and alive today.
When Joe dropped, noone called because the police, the paramedics and a
local TV station came the first time. The authorities were told that
he had ingested nitrous oxide but the people there knew it was
heroin. They let my son die so they wouldn't get in trouble. I
have since formed a group called "Families Against Drugs" as a
support group for families who have suffered the horrors of drug addiction
and lose. We also have former addicts who go out with me to educated
kids and parents about drugs. It is therapy for us to help other
parents and get kids off of drugs. Thank you for this website. I
will never let people forget who Joe was or how he died.
