Bryan G. Wallace

(1979 - 2001)

This is my son Bryan Wallace. He died this past March of an overdose of Heroin. It was only the second time he tried it. He was not a drug addict. He was my only child and I am a single mother. He was 21. This picture is one of the best I have of him of last summer vacationing in York Beach, Maine, with his best friend Jamie. He was very quiet and reserved so to have a picture of him with a great big smile is a rarity. That was the first lobster he ever ate and loved it!

The last five months since he left me have been the hardest five months of my life, needless to say. He was my entire life and we were best friends. He was an entity all his own as you can see from his piercings and tattoos. A few years ago he took me to get a tattoo so I would be "cool" too and he guarded the door. No one would cross him - he was 6 foot 3, just like his father.

He loved animals all his life.  He was so proud of his three fish tanks and his cousins would come over and he would explain so patiently about each fish. He was the best skateboarder, rollerblader and snowboarder around. At his wake all his friends decorated his casket with snowboarding, skateboarding and rollerblading stickers.  It's just what he would have wanted - he always had style and would go out in style.

His friends still come to visit - my door has always been open to them- any time day and night - and it still is.  It was never unusual to find someone sleeping on the couch.  He had the biggest heart for everyone.  I never would have gotten this far without his friends by my side every moment - thank you to Jamie, Sal, Jeff, Chris, JC, Fang, Scottie, Joe and Mark. Bless you for all the gifts you have given both Bryan and I.

And to my dearest friends and their families that have been a shoulder to cry on, someone to talk to any time day or night, and love me no matter what state I'm in, I send my never ending prayers of thanks and blessings.  This goes to Sue, Diane, Chris, Cindy, Joanne, Dana, Keith, Julie, Bryan's Godmother Lisa and my parents.

There's a special place in Heaven for all of you and when you do get there you know Bryan will be waiting  with open arms.

Love always, Lori                                                defconsmom@mediaone.net
